Regenerating a QR token

Regenerating a token issues the room a brand-new code and retires the old one. It is a security action, not a routine one — most properties never need it.

01When to regenerate

Regenerate if you have reason to believe a room's code has been photographed and is being used from off-property, or as part of a periodic security rotation if your group requires one.

You do not need to regenerate for a damaged or lost card — a plain reprint keeps the same token and is simpler.

02What happens to the old card

The instant you regenerate, the old code stops working. Anyone scanning the retired card sees an expired-code message, so print and place the new card before you rotate, not after.

03Why a mid-stay guest is unaffected

A guest's session lives in their browser once they have scanned, tied to their stay rather than to the code itself. Regenerating the room token does not sign the current guest out or lose their open requests — it only changes what a fresh scan resolves to.
